About Me
Dr. Stanley Mpofu (C-CIO SA) has been the Chief Information Officer at the University of the Witwatersrand since 2017, where he has led the university's digital transformation agenda and championed digital equity in higher education. As a Certified Chartered CIO (C-CIO SA), his leadership has been pivotal in initiatives like the "Smart Classroom" project, which supported the university's blended learning objectives and played a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring uninterrupted online education. Additionally, he collaborated with Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) and the Tertiary Education & Research Network of South Africa (TENET) to expand eduroam to public airports across South Africa, bridging the digital divide for students and staff without home internet access.

Under his guidance, Wits University implemented transformative projects such as the Automation of Thesis Submission, the Integrated Workplace Management System, and the Hospital Connectivity Project, aligning operations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Dr. Mpofu's work has been recognized through numerous awards, including:
