Gerhard is the Implementation Manager at TransLution Software, an international software development and integration services company. TransLution focus on providing manufacturing operations and inventory management solutions for a wide range of industries.

Gerhard also Chair the Society for Automation, Instrumentation, Mechatronics and Computer Engineering (SAIMC) User Advisory Council and sit on the Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association (MESA) EMEA Board as Vice-Chair. Both organisations promote Smart Manufacturing.

Gerhard’s chosen field is Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) and he has published various articles about MES and MOM in trade publications, contributed a chapter in “The MOM Chronicles: ISA-95 Best Practices Book 3.0” and published a book “Practical E-Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management” through Newnes Press in 2004. He co-authored three MESA White Papers on the concept and implementation of the “Time-in-State” or “Time-in-Optimum Operating Envelope” Metric and regularly review and edit other MESA White Papers. He is also a contributing editor for the South African Instrumentation and Control Magazine.

Gerhard one of the few certified presenters of the MESA Global Education Program and has presented multiple training courses in the USA, India, United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa.
